Ex-Hizbul-Mujahideen spokesman injured in gun attack
Srinagar, Apr 29 (IBNS): Four passengers, including former Hizbul-Mujahideen spokesman Junaid-ul-Islam, were injured after unknown gunman attacked a vehicle carrying them at Sangrama in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Tuesday.
According to sources, unidentified gunman opened fire on a matador (JK05-9135) on way from Pattan to Baramulla at Sangarama 50 kms away from Srinagar.
"Four persons sustained injuries in the attack," sources said.
The injured have been immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.
The injured persons have been identified as Abdul Khaliq Dar alias Junaid-ul-Islam, son of Ghulam Qadir of Khanpora and former Hizbul-Mujahideen spokesperson, Mohammad Rafiq son of Mohammad Sultan wani of Khanpora, Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Hassan Sheik and non-local Mohammad Sadam son of Mohammad Jabbar of Bihar.
However, the two critically injured persons Abdul Khaliq and Mohd Sadam were immediately shited to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment.
While speaking to IBNS, Superintendent of Police Sopore Abdul Qayoom said that a gunman attacked ex-spokesperson of Hizbul Mujahedeen Junaid Ul Islam and made three others were injured.
He further added that army and special operation group (SOG) of police have cordoned off the whole area and started searches to nab the assailants.
A police spokesman has earlier said that at about 1900 hours on Tuesday, one unknown militant, who was boarding a passenger matadoor plying from Pattan towards Baramullah got off near Sangrama and opened fire at the very same matadoor he had boarded.
