Eastern states must develop: Shah

Kolkata, Aug 12 (IBNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Wednesday said his party and the Centre believed that eastern states must develop and progress rapidly if India has to achieve GDP growth rate of 10%.

“The BJP and its government firmly believe that eastern states must develop and progress rapidly if India has to achieve GDP growth rate of 10%,” Shah said while addressing at the  Indian Chambers of Commerce here.

“The BJP government has taken a number of steps to ensure development in eastern parts of the country,” he said.

He said there was ‘complete policy paralysis and lack of decision making’ during UPA government’s ten year rule.

“This had adverse impact on our economic growth,” he said.

Targeting the UPA government, Shah said: “We have re-established the authority of Prime Minister’s Office. There is no longer a remote-controlled government and there is no confusion on who has the authority to take decisions.”
