CSIA bags National Tourism Award for the ‘Best Airport in Metro Cities’

Mumbai, Aug 3 (IBNS): Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) received the National Tourism Award 2014-15 under the category of ‘Best Airports in Class X (metro) Cities’ at a ceremony held at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi recently.

The award, presented by the Speaker of Lok Sabha, Sumitra Mahajan, was conferred to CSIA for contributing immensely towards the promotion of tourism in Maharashtra and India.

With over 190 flights operating daily, the Mumbai International Airport administered CSIA, offers air connectivity to passengers with more than 85 destinations in the country and globally.

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India presents the National Tourism Awards to various segments of the travel and tourism industry every year.

The Award for the ‘Best Airport’ category was designated for the Airport in India providing top notch facilities to passengers and guests. The major criteria for selection included creation of tourist friendly infrastructure, maintenance and upkeep of the Airport, adaptation of eco-friendly practices, traffic management system, availability of transport facility and facilities for the passengers with special needs.
