Chief Secretary's assault : Delhi police at CM Kejriwal's residence

| @indiablooms | Feb 23, 2018, at 06:42 pm

New Delhi, Feb 23 (IBNS) :  The Delhi Police visited  Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's home on Friday to look for CCTV footage  and to question employees in connection with the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by two MLAs of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, media reports said.

This came close on the heels of the statement of Kejriwal's key aide VK Jain that he was a witness to the assault that took place on  Monday night

Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash has alleged that he was assaulted by two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lawmakers-Prakash Jarwal and Amanatullah Khan in presence of  Kejriwal after being called for a meeting at midnight on Monday.

Denying the allegation, the AAP referred to the CCTV footage to allege that Anshu Prakash was lying about the assault.

The chief secretary said he was seated between two MLAs and asked by  Kejriwal to explain the delay in releasing a three-year anniversary TV campaign.

Soon, the MLAs allegedly shouted at him and threatened him.  "One MLA, whom I can identify, threatened that I will be confined in the room for the entire night unless I agree to release the TV campaign," he had said.

As a consequence of the incident, Government  officials have denied to attend any meeting called by Delhi ministers until Kejriwal apologises for the assault on Prakash.

On the basis of Prakash's complaint, the Delhi Police have  registered an FIR against AAP MLAs Khan and Jarwal.  While Jarwal has been arrested,  Khan has surrendered to police.

A Delhi court on Wednesday rejected the petition of police for custodial interrogation of Khan and Jarwal.
