Bihar youth in search of biological father, wants DNA test
In the movie directed by Prakash Mehra, the lead actor Amitabh Bachchan, who plays ‘Laawaris’ (orphan or illegitimate child), stumbles over his “reality” one day in search of his parents.
The youth from Bihar has been seeking for DNA test to search for his biological father after coming to know about his illegitimate status by his mother herself.
“I’m an illegitimate son of a man who held illicit relationship with my mother but abandoned me later. I have been leading an undignified life and want to be given legitimate status by my father,” says Randhir Singh, a resident Sabalpur village in Khagaria district, who claims a local villager as his “real” father. The matter, however, denies the fact.
The youth turned more restless after coming close to reality in course of police investigation.
It all started after he shot off a letter to the Prime Minister Office in February this year, seeking for DNA test to determine his biological father.
Acting on instruction from the PMO, the police began investigation into the matter.
During the course of investigation, the police talked to the youth’s mother as well as local villagers.
It was only then that youth’s “illegitimate” status came to light.
In her affidavit prepared by Notary public, the youth’s 55 year-old mother has mentioned how she worked as a labour in the house of a local villager, who later established physical relationship with her on the pretext of marrying her one day but abandoned later when she became pregnant.
“Some 30 years back, my husband worked in the house of a local landlord. I too would visit his house sometimes. It was during one such occasion that he established physical relationship with me which continued for 5-6 years. He sexually abused me on the pretext of making me his wife…he is biological father of my son,” the woman said in her affidavit.
Reports said the police also tried conduct the DNA test of the accused person but the latter has not been cooperating. “Why should I undergo DNA test when I have not committed mistake?” the man in question reportedly told the police.
The local Khagaria district superintendent of police Anil Kumar Singh said the administration was trying to get an order from the court to enable the accused conduct DNA test.
