Assam Rifles nab three NSCN-K militants in Nagaland

Guwahati, Dec 13 (IBNS): The troops of Assam Rifles apprehended three NSCN-K militants in Nagaland on Wednesday, officials said.


Officiating PRO, HQ IGAR (North) Lt Col Angshuman Chakrabarti said that, based on intelligence input the troops of 5 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted an operation based in jungles near general area old Phuyetu village in Zunheboto district and nabbed three NSCN-K militants.

The nabbed militants were identified as self styled chairman, Sumi region Nitoi Sumi, Khatoho Achumi and Vikheho Awomi.

Security personnel recovered one 5.56 mm A-1 Rifle with magazine, 84 rounds of 5.56 mm caliber, one ammunition pouch, 74 non local blank identity cards, one tax collection booklet with seven counter foils and 11 leaves, 21 NSCN/GPRN-K letter head pads, one vehicle registration certificate of Bajaj Discover (NL-07 J 7910), one Govt of Nagaland identity card issued by SDO, Electrical, Akuluto,  three mobile phones and an unsigned hand written demand letter addressed to Executive Engineer, Irrigatin and Flood control department, Zunheboto in possession from them.

Later, the apprehended militants along with the recoveries were handed over to Zunheboto Police Station.
