Assam: Missing person's body found hanging inside jungle

Haflong: Body of a 20-year-old person, who went missing since Saturday afternoon, was found hanging from a tree inside jungle area near Wayungdisa village under Gunjung police patrol post on Wednesday in Assam’s Dima Hasao district.

The deceased was identified as Piranjit Kemprai.

As per information, on Saturday as usual Kemprai returned to his village after a trip from Haflong market.

Later on reaching the village, he received a call for a reserved trip at around 2.30 pm and went missing since then.

After Kemprai did not return home on the evening, his family members tried to find him but failed.

The villagers said that it could be a pre-planned murder.

Meanwhile, police team retrieved the body in presence of an executive magistrate and sent the body for post mortem at Haflong civil hospital.

They have started an investigation into the incident.

The incident has created a sensation in the area since it occured amid lockdown when unnecessary movement have been strictly prohibited.
