Assam: IAF plane crashes close to Jorhat, 2 pilots killed

Jorhat, Feb 15 (IBNS): Two pilots were killed as an Indian Air Force Microlight Virus SW-80 crashed close to Jorhat area in Assam on Thursday, officials said.

"An Indian Air Force Microlight Virus SW-80 crashed around 1200 hrs today, after getting airborne from Air Force Station Jorhat, for a routine sortie," read a statement issued by the Indian government.

"Two pilots, Wg Cdr J James and Wg Cdr D Vats, sustained fatal injuries," read the statement.

A court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.
