Assam court summons Rahul Gandhi

| | Aug 06, 2016, at 09:17 pm
Guwahati, Aug 6 (IBNS) : A metropolitan court in Assam's Kamrup district on Saturday issued summon to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in the defamation case over his remark on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Reports said the court asked Gandhi to appear in person on September 29.

An RSS volunteer had filed a criminal defamation case against Gandhi, claiming that  he had tarnished the organisation's image by saying he was not allowed by RSS members to enter Barpeta Satra, a Vaishnavite monastery  in Assam on December 12, 2015.

Bora claimed that  Gandhi did not go to Satra and he took part in a padyatra on that day.
