Guwahati, May 4 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday expressed his concern about the insurgency problem in the North Eastern region of the country.

Gogoi expressed concern over the problem, a day after militant attack on Assam Rifles troopers in Nagaland.

"It is a serious issue. Several militant groups in the region are making more organized attacks on security forces. It has increased. The union government has taken this issue  seriously and took stern steps against the militants," the Assam CM said during a press conference held in Guwahati on Monday.

"The recent attack on Assam Rifles troopers in Nagaland has proved that the region is not still free from insurgency problem," Gogoi said.

Gogoi urged the union government to take serious notes of the problem.

At least eight Assam Rifles jawans were killed, nine injured and four others missing in the attack by UNLFW, United platform of NSCN-Khaplang, ULFA (I), KLO and NDFB.
