Assam CM calls on Rajnath Singh and discusses various issues

The Assam CM appraised the Home Minister about the artificial flash floods occurring in Guwahati city along with floods and erosion situation of the state and informed him about various measures taken by the state government.
         
Taking serious note of the artificial flood in the city and flood and erosion situations in the state, the Union Home Minister assured of all help in this regard and informed that the Central Government would take all possible steps to find lasting solutions to these problems.

He also asked the Chief Minister to prepare and submit both short term and long term plans to tackle the flood and erosion problems.
        
Sonowal also informed Singh about the various steps taken by state government to fight corruption and said that the government has taken measures to remove corruption from all levels of the government with active cooperation from the public.

Appreciating the efforts of the state government in this regard Singh said that the central government would keep supporting all such actions against corruption in the future as well.

Rajnath Singh urged the Assam CM to carry on his campaign against the menace of corruption to ensure that the benefits of the government schemes reach the poorest of poor in the society.  
       
The sealing of Indo-Bangla Border was also discussed in the meeting and the Union Home Minister informed that central government has given a lot of importance to the issues of sealing and strengthening of surveillance of the international border.

Sonowal apprised the Union Home Minister about this two visits to the border at Mancachar with the representatives of AASU and other organisations and also to the border at Karimganj where Sonowal was accompanied by the top officials of the state. 
       
The topic of NRC updation process also came up for discussion in the meeting and Sonowal informed Singh about the progress of NRC updation in the state and the role played by the Supreme Court of India in the matter.

The Assam CM said that the state government has extended all cooperation towards completion of the NRC updation process and Union Home Minister also assured of all possible help in ensuring timely completion of the process.
         
Sonowal also discussed about the demands and aspirations of the various indigenous groups of the state and the Union Home Minister assured that the central government would take all possible steps to meet the demands of the indigenous groups and solve their problems.

Sonowal informed Singh about the dialogue processes carried forward by the state government with the various indigenous groups.
         
Sonowal also informed the Union Home Minister about removing 19 judges from Foreigners’ Tribunals in the state due to non performance and said that warnings have been issued to another 15 judges.

“If these judges fail to improve their performance in the next six months and cannot dispose pending cases in the Tribunals satisfactorily then these judges would also be removed,” Sonowal informed. 
          
The Union Home Minister thanked the state government for conducting peaceful elections in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and urged the Chief Minister for initiating speedy implementation of development works at Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts.
