Apex court stays Patna HC's order quashing prohibiton in Bihar

New Delhi/Patna, Oct 7 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Friday stayed Patna High Court's order quashing prohibition in Bihar, according to media reports.

The Bihar government had appealed to the apex court on October 3 regarding the Patna High Court's order that quashed the notification banning the sale and consumption of liquor in the state.

Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government had banned the sale and consumption of liquor through a notification in April, which the Patna High Court quashed in September.

Despite the Patna High Court quashing their notification, the Bihar government had come out with even stricter rules, such as arrest of the adults in a household where liquor is found, media reported.
