73rd I-Day celebration : Assam CM unfurls national tricolour in Guwahati

Guwahati, Aug 15 (IBNS): Assam along with rest of the nation on Thursday celebrated the 73rd Independence Day.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal unfurled the national tricolour at the central programme organised by the Assam government at the Assam Veterinary College playground at Khanapara, Guwahati.

The Assam CM in his speech expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in leading the nation through his innovative and path-breaking leadership and thanked for bestowing Bharat Ratna to Late Bhupen Hazarika.

He also said that, the final NRC will be published shortly to ensure that, Assam will be free from infiltrators.

The 73rd Independence Day celebrations witnessed a graceful march-past by various security contingents and colourful cultural programme.
