7 NSCN (K) militants nabbed, extortion racket busted in Kohima

Guwahati, Sept 18 (IBNS): Security forces have busted an extortion racket being run by the NSCN (K) militants in Nagaland’s Kohima and apprehended seven militants of the outfit on Sept 16, officials said on Monday.

Based on specific information of extortion activity by NSCN (K) militants in Kohima, security forces apprehended three militants who were threatening the local populace, vendors and making unjust demands of extortion.

The apprehended militants were found in possession of one 7.56mm pistol, one point 22 pistol along with eleven live rounds, challan slips and 50 grams marijuana.

The three apprehended militants were identified as Self Style Sergeant Hoshito Ayemi, L Majingmong Thiipori and Linpingthu Pachuri.

The apprehendees, along with the recovered items , were handed over to OC, South Police Station, Kohima.

Based on the input given by the apprehended militants security personnel launched another operation along with police representatives and intercepted a suspected vehicle and apprehended four militants of NSCN (K) who were identified as Bennilo Bukh, Adeo Kiewhuo, Neiktoula Kenguruse and Thejavinuo Theja.

The items recovered from the individuals included six extortion challans and were handed over to police station Kohima for further investigation.
