Hyderabad, Aug 14 (IBNS): In a severe instance of negligence, four people were killed after getting trapped in a manhole in Hyderabad's Madhapur area on Saturday.

According to reports, three sanitary workers, identified as Srinivas, Satyanarayana, Nagesh and one another died on Saturday evening after getting trapped in the manhole and inhaling poisonous gas in Hyderabad's IT hub area.

On getting trapped, the workers had called out for help.

Hearing them, a cab driver, identified as Gangadhar who was passing by, rushed to help them.

But unfortunately he also got stuck inside the manhole and died.

In fact, an ambulance service employee also went inside the manhole to rescue them but fell ill after inhaling the poisonous gas.

He was rushed to a hospital with breathing problems.

The workers reportedly entered the 25 feet deep manhole without any safety gear.

Police has registered a case of causing deaths due to negligence against the sub-contractor.

Compensation of Rs. 2.5 lakh was announced for the family of each victim.
