2 sentenced to life in WB's maiden parcel bomb explosion case

Kolkata/Malda, Dec 22 (IBNS): A local court in West Bengal's Malda district on Thursday sentenced two men to lifetime imprisonment in connection with state's first parcel bomb explosion incident, reports said.

Earlier on Apr 24 in 2011, a nearly 34-year-old teacher, Aparna Biswas, was killed in a parcel bomb explosion in her residence at Malanchapally area under English Bazar Police Station limits in Malda district.

After starting probe into the incident, police nabbed the primary accused in the case, killed teacher's ex-boyfriend Prince Ghosh, and his companion Rajkumar Rishi, who reportedly made the bomb and couriered it to the teacher's address.

However, the court on Thursday found the two accused, Prince Ghosh and Rajkumar Rishi, guilty under IPC section 302 (Murder) and Explosive Substances Act (1908)'s section 3 (Causing explosion likely to endanger life or property) and awarded life sentence to the duo.
