Hanoi/Xinhua/UNI: Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday that it will close its border gates and border crossings with Laos and Cambodia starting from Wednesday in an effort to limit the spread of the COVID-19 in the country.

Cambodia has denied entry to Vietnamese citizens since March 20 and Laos has banned entry at all of its international borders until April 19, according to the ministry.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on March 29 announced the suspension of all inbound flights into the country for the next two weeks in an effort to better control the COVID-19 outbreak.

Vietnam has reported 204 cases of COVID-19 infection with 55 cured as of Tuesday afternoon.
