Shanghai rolls out guideline for tourist attractions to control epidemic

Shanghai/Xinhua/UNI: Shanghai on Friday rolled out a guideline for the municipality's A-grade tourist attractions to combat the novel coronavirus epidemic.

The municipal administration of culture and tourism issued the guideline with 30 detailed measures.

Tourist attractions will reopen gradually depending on the city's epidemic prevention and control situation. Temporary isolation spots should be set up and materials such as facial masks, gloves, medical alcohol and disinfectant should be prepared in scenic areas, according to the guideline.

Tourist attractions are also required to monitor employees' physical and mental health.

The scenic spots are encouraged to introduce an online pre-booking system and limit the flow of tourists. The daily maximum capacity should be halved, and relevant information should be made public, the guideline said.

It also required body temperature tests for tourists at the entrances. Tourists whose body temperature is higher than 37.3 degrees will be advised to postpone their visits.

Meanwhile, indoor venues should take stricter preventive and disinfection measures. Grand celebrations and gathering activities are suspended. Venues with wild animals should be closed during the epidemic.

Public facilities should be disinfected at least twice per day, and items including crutches, wheelchairs, umbrellas and voice guide equipment should be disinfected once used.

Tourist attractions should immediately report to local epidemic prevention and control departments once they find any suspected infected persons and isolate them.

A total of 113 A-grade tourist attractions, Shanghai Disneyland and Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park as well as other scenic spots have put up the shutters in an effort to contain the spread of the epidemic since late January.

Chinese cities such as Nanjing and Hangzhou have announced to reopen the city's tourist attractions gradually under stringent epidemic-control measures.
