Second attack in 24 hours: Dubai building hit by debris after interception

Authorities in Dubai said debris from a successfully intercepted aerial attack struck the façade of a building in the city, marking the second such incident in less than 24 hours amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

According to the Dubai Media Office, the incident caused only minor damage and resulted in no injuries.

“Authorities confirmed that the incident, caused by debris from a successful interception which struck the façade of a building in central Dubai, has been fully contained. No fire occurred and no injuries were reported,” the office said in a post on X.

Earlier, buildings in parts of Dubai shook after loud explosions were heard across the city, with thick black smoke seen rising over a central district.

An Agence France-Presse correspondent reported hearing a large double blast that rattled nearby buildings and left a cloud of smoke hanging over the area.

Authorities later clarified that the disturbance was caused by debris falling after an aerial threat was successfully intercepted, leading to a minor impact on the exterior of a building in central Dubai.

The incident comes as the Gulf region faces heightened security concerns following the escalation of conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States since February 28.

According to reports, at least 24 people have been killed across the region so far, including seven US service members and 11 civilians.
