Russia detains suspected IS militant on Istanbul-Makhachkala flight

Moscow, May 5 (UNI): Russian police have detained a passenger on the Istanbul-Makhachkala flight in Dagestan airport, who was on the federal wanted list on suspicion of being linked to Islamic state, official on Sunday said.

"During the searches of the passengers of the Istanbul-Makhachkala flight, police detained Biysoltan Jamalov, who had been earlier deported from Turkey, and was on the federal wanted list due to his involvement in Islamic State activities in Syria," the source said.

The law enforcement officers found that Jamalov was in Syria from September 2016 to January 2019.

He joined the Nusra Front (Terrorist group) there.
