Manchester, Jan 2 (IBNS) Manchester police in the UK is treating as terrorism a knife attack on people by a man who stabbed three, including a cop, shouting "Allahu Akbar" and ISIS slogan on Tuesday  on a platform at Manchester Victoria Metrolink station.

According to Manchester police,  the knife attack seriously injured two rail passengers and a British Transport policeman on the New Year's evening leaving everyone shocked at the  Victoria Metrolink station. The cop showed exemplary courage to save the people and has been hailed as a hero, said reports.

The young man shouted 'Allahu Akbar' and gave ISIS slogan like "Long Live The Caliphate" as he attacked people with a kitchen knife injuring the police officer and a man and a woman in their 50s at around 9 pm.

Police pepper-sprayed and tasered the man and then arrested him, said reports.

Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said: "We are treating this as a terrorist investigation." "If you witnessed or have been affected by the incident at #ManchesterVictoria last night and want to talk to someone in confidence then please contact @VictimSupport on 0808 168 9111. All calls to this number are free," Greater Manchester Police tweeted.

According to Daily Mail, anti-terror officers raided the 25-year-old suspect's home in the Cheetham Hill area of the city today as they confirmed two of the victims will be in hospital 'for some time'.

"Neighbours of the property raided say they believe it is home to a Somali couple and four of their five children, who all moved to the UK from the Netherlands around 12 years ago," Daily Mail reported.

According to the publication, footage of the aftermath of the last night "shows a man being pinned down by five police officers, with blood stains on the pavement."

In another video the man was seen shouting 'Allahu Akbar'. He was also shouting 'Long live the Caliphate', in reference to the dreaded terror group ISIS's proclaimed  worldwide caliphate, a concept of a single one-world government, supported in particular by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, a leader of the Islamic fundamentalist militant group the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
