LeT terror operatives attend Shoaib Akhtar's brother's funeral in Pakistan, video goes viral
Several Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives, including the outfit's deputy chief Saifullah Kasuri, who is known for making provocative remarks against India, were reportedly seen attending the funeral of former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar's brother in Islamabad, according to media reports.
Shahid Akhtar, Shoaib Akhtar's brother, died on June 24.
A video purportedly showing the presence of LeT members at the funeral has since gone viral on social media.
Besides Kasuri, Inam Ur Rehman, president of the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), the political front of LeT, was also present at the funeral, India Today reported.
According to the South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP), Saifullah Kasuri has been identified as the alleged mastermind behind the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
In another purported video that circulated widely on Pakistan-based social media, Kasuri accused India of engaging in "water terrorism," alleging that New Delhi deliberately triggered flooding in Pakistan through the "uncontrolled release" of water.
According to the United Nations, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is a Pakistan-based terrorist organisation that has carried out terrorist activities and supported sanctioned individuals and entities, including Al-Qaida and its former leader Osama bin Laden.

The UN states that Hafiz Muhammad Saeed serves as the chief of LeT and is also the emir (leader) of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), an organisation widely regarded as the group's front.
LeT has carried out numerous attacks against military and civilian targets since 1993. These include the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, which killed around 164 people and injured hundreds more.
The organisation has also been linked to the July 2006 Mumbai train bombings, the December 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament—alongside Jaish-e-Mohammed—as well as bomb attacks in New Delhi in October 2005 and Bengaluru in December 2005.
The UN further notes that LeT has operated in Afghanistan and other parts of Asia and has maintained links with Jemaah Islamiyah. It has financed terrorist activities and provided training, logistical assistance and infrastructure through its front organisation, Jamaat-ud-Dawa.
