Italy: One person died, 37 injured in tourist bus crash

Rome, May 22 (Sputnik) At least one person died and 37 people were injured on Wednesday when a tourist bus overturned on a highway in the province of Tuscany in Italy, the local hospital authority said.

The agency said that a total of 33 injured people were taken to two local hospitals. Four people were said to have moderate injuries and 30 people did not require any medical attention.


According to reports, the 40-year old woman that died was the tour guide on the bus.


The two-tiered bus crashed onto its side on Wednesday morning near the town of Monteriggioni in central Tuscany.


The Russian Embassy in Italy said that 19 Russian citizens were among those injured in the bus accident.


"According to the information we received, 19 Russian citizens were injured [as a result of the accident]," an embassy representative told Sputnik.


The diplomat added that among those that were injured were citizens of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia and Romania.
