Cape Town, Apr 19 (Xinhua/UNI) A Pentecostal church collapsed due to heavy rains in eastern South Africa, killing at least 13 people and injuring 16 others, local authorities said Friday.

The incident happened on Thursday night in Dlangubo, KwaZulu-Natal Province, while people were gathering for a Passover service.

The KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services said six people were seriously injured.

Local police said the death toll could rise as some people might be trapped in the debris.

A heavy storm and strong winds swept the area, causing flood and the collapse of some buildings, local authorities said.
