Ouagadougou: At least 15 people were killed during an attack on a mosque in Burkina Faso, media reports said on Sunday.

Gunmen entered the Grand Mosque in the village of Salmossi on Friday evening as those inside were praying, reported BBC.

After the attack, several villagers have fled the spot.

The venue, where the attack took place, is located close to the Malian border.

Hundreds of people have been killed in the country over the past few years, mostly by jihadist groups, BBC reported.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
