British PM Boris Johnson is stable: Officials

London/IBNS: British PM Boris Johnson, who is undergoing treatment for COVID-19 in a London hospital, is in 'good spirit', officials said on Tuesday.

Officials said the British leader remained stable overnight and is being given oxygen and is not on a ventilator.

In a statement on Tuesday, a Downing Street spokesman said as quoted by BBC: "The prime minister has been stable overnight and remains in good spirits. He is receiving standard oxygen treatment and is breathing without any other assistance."

"He has not required mechanical ventilation or non-invasive respiratory support," read the statement.

The British PM is undergoing treatment in London's St Thomas' Hospital.

Johnson, who has tested positive for Covid-19, has been shifted to the intensive care unit of the hospital after his condition worsened, the Downing Street has said.

A statement by the No 10 Downing Street said: "Since Sunday evening, the prime minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas' Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus. Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital."

"The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication," the statement read.

Ten days after he was tested positive for COVID-19, British PM Boris Johnson was hospitalised for tests yesterday.

The Downing Street had said the step was taken as a 'precautionary measure'.

Johnson was tested positive for novel coronavirus on March 27 and was since then, self-isolating in Downing Street.
