Sydney: At least 10 people died and over 20 others were injured as a wedding bus crashed in Australia on Sunday, media reports said.

The passengers were returning from a wedding at a winery on Sunday night when their coach overturned on Wine County Drive near Greta in Hunter Valley, New South Wales, reports BBC.

Police told the British media that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The driver of the bus has been arrested.

NSW Police Acting Assistant Commissioner Tracy Chapman was quoted as saying by the British media that the guests were travelling to Singleton "presumably for their accommodation."

The accident took place at around 23:30 local time.

Australian PM  Anthony Albanese mourned the loss of lives in the tragedy and tweeted: "All Australians waking up to tragic news from the Hunter send our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of those killed in this horrific bus tragedy." "For a day of joy to end in such devastating loss is cruel indeed. Our thoughts are also with those who have been injured," he said.
