India has shut down 24 airports across the nation

Several Indian airlines, including SpiceJet, IndiGo and Air India, have issued travel advisories for travellers amid heightened tension after Pakistan launched missile attacks on India.

Air India asked passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before departure.

Air India wrote on X: "In view of an order by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on enhanced measures at airports, passengers across India are advised to arrive at their respective airports at least three hours prior to scheduled departure to ensure smooth check-in and boarding. Check-in closes 75 mins before departure."

IndiGo issues advisory

IndiGo posted on X: "In these extraordinary times, heightened security measures are taken up across all airports. We request you to allow some extra time for your journey to accommodate security checks and formalities. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation."

SpiceJet also directed passengers to reached the airport three hours in advance.

"In line with compliance to directions issued by BCAS, passengers are advised to reach airport 3 hrs. before STD of their flight," SpiceJet wrote on X.

On its X handle, Akasa Air said: " #TravelUpdate: Due to the prevailing situation in the region, Srinagar airport has been closed for civil operations. As a result, our flights to and from Srinagar have been cancelled."

24 Indian airports shut

The airports which were shut were in Chandigarh, Srinagar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bhuntar, Kishengarh, Patiala, Shimla, Kangra-Gaggal, Bhatinda, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Halwara, Pathankot, Jammu, Leh, Mundra, Jamnagar, Hirasar, Porbandar, Keshod, Kandla and Bhuj.

The Indian Army has activated a line of air defence systems, mainly the Russian-built S-400 air, to thwart Pakistan’s coordinated missile and drone strikes targeting multiple locations across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
