Vaidehi Chaudhuri blank 4th seed from Thailand, Manchaya Sawangkaew to enter Q/F
Chaudhuri looked confident from the very beginning as she overpowered the 4th seed and at the same time displayed high level of patience during long rallies. She whitewashed Sawangkaew by just conceding one game in the entire match.
Bengal's only hope, Yubrani Banerjee gave the local audience a reason to cheer as she breezed past Korea's Eunji Oh, seeded 6 in the Girls Singles draw, by a clean 6-3,6-1 in exact 1 hour.
16 year old and from Delhi, Bikramjeet Singh Chawla stretched 2nd seeded Hazem Naow of Syria to the extreme as the later somehow managed to pull the pre quarter final encounter by a very close 7-6(4), 7-6(5).
The opening set saw a continues hold of serves till 6-6, where Naow got lucky and grabbed the tie breaker by 7-4.
In the second, Naow pocketed an early break to take a lead of 3-1 but got broken right after, leveling the set yet again to 6-6.
Here, Naow got the better of Chawla as the Delhi Grade 2 semi finalist won by 7-6(4), 7-6(5) in 1hr 55min.
