Steve Smith scores 61 in Canadian T20, plays first game since ball-tampering ban
Toronto, June 29 (IBNS): Playing his first competitive cricket match since being banned for 12 months for ball- tampering in March, Australia cricketer Steve Smith scored 61 off 41 balls.
Smith is currently playing for the Toronto Nationals in the inaugural Global T20 Canada league.
After the ball-tampering episode came to light, Smith was removed from captaincy charge and banned from playing international cricket for 12 months by the country's cricket board.
The incident occurred during the Test series between Australia and South Africa.
Smith was removed from the post and banned from playing cricket in the middle of the series.
"I didn't feel as good as I would've liked but it's nice to score runs when you're not feeling good," Smith was quoted as saying by BBC.
Smith said:"Honestly when I am out in the middle everything else is a blur. Just concentrate on what I am doing and it's almost like my haven I guess."
"I'm not going to lie, it's been a difficult time in my life, there's no doubt about that," the former captain was quoted as saying by BBC.
"But I've accepted my punishment, I've accepted what I've gone through and I'm moving forward, and part of my rehab is playing cricket as well and that's what I love doing," he said.
