BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Sunday confirmed that Rohit Sharma will lead India in the World Test Championship cycle and the Champions Trophy.

Shah expressed hope that India would win both world titles.

He praised Indian players for winning the T20 World Cup title and said in a video: "I am congratulating Team India for the historical win. I want to dedicate the victory to coach Rahul Dravid, captain Rohit Sharma Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja."

"It was our third final in the past year. We lost WTC final on June 23. We won heart but could not win the World Cup final on November 23."

He expressed happiness that his prediction that India would win the T20 World Cup came true.

"Our next challenge is WTC final and Champions Trophy. I am hopeful we will clinch both under Rohit Sharma's captaincy," he said.

India defeated South Africa in a thrilling final of the T20 World Cup to lift the title after 17 years.
