Pujara departs for 83, Vijay eyeing another Test hundred

Hyderabad, Feb 9 (IBNS): Mehdi Hasan put an end to a mammoth partnership between Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara to deny the latter another Test Hundred here on Thursday, day one of the one-off Test between India and Bangladesh.

The Saurashtra batsman departed for 83 runs, giving the Bangladeshi bowlers their second wicket.

Even with the lone scalp, the visiting bowlers were made to toil hard as they gave away as many as 120 runs in the second session.

Starting at 86 runs for the loss of one wicket, the Indian batsmen have put on 206 runs for the loss of two wickets.

Murali Vijay (98) is unbeaten at the crease and will look to compile another Test hundred and add on runs alongwith skipper Virat Kohli (17).

The Indian skipper started his innings with a boundary, slamming Hasan on the off side.

Earlier in the day the Indian skipper won the toss and decided to bat first.

KL Rahul (2) was dismissed early and missed out after he dragged a delivery onto his stumps from Taskin Ahmed.
