PM Modi’s 'glow' sparks laughs as cricketer Harleen Deol asks about his skincare routine

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the victorious Indian women’s cricket team at his residence following their historic World Cup win, the interaction took a light-hearted turn when batter Harleen Deol cheekily asked him about his skincare routine.

“You glow a lot, sir,” Deol remarked, prompting laughter from the entire room.

Caught off guard, the Prime Minister smiled and replied, “I never thought about this much.”

The video of the conversation, held on Wednesday and aired on Thursday, quickly went viral for its warmth and humour.

When all-rounder Sneh Rana interjected, saying that Modi’s glow came from “the love of his countrymen,” the Prime Minister agreed.

“Of course it is. It’s a huge source of strength. I’ve spent many years in government. Despite everything, the blessings keep coming in — and it does have an effect on you eventually,” he said.

The Prime Minister had hosted the Harmanpreet Kaur-led squad to celebrate their first-ever ICC Women’s ODI World Cup title, clinched after defeating South Africa by 52 runs in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

Calling the victory a “moment of redemption and pride” for Indian women’s cricket, Modi lauded the team’s “remarkable resilience and comeback” after earlier setbacks in the tournament.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur recalled the team’s earlier meeting with the Prime Minister after their loss in the 2017 World Cup final.

“At that time, we did not come with a trophy. But this time, for something we’ve worked hard for so many years, we’ve brought it home,” Kaur said. “Our aim is to meet you again and again — and take more photos with trophies in the future.”

PM Modi responded warmly, saying cricket had become an emotion for the nation.

“In India, cricket is not just a game- it’s the life of the people. When there’s good news in cricket, India feels good; when there’s disappointment, the whole country feels it,” he remarked.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister also spoke to Player of the Tournament Deepti Sharma about her now-viral Hanuman tattoo, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
