Naveen Patnaik announces Rs 1.5 crore cash award for Asian Games silver medal winner Dutee Chand

Bhubaneswar, Aug 27 (IBNS): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced a cash award of Rs 1.5 crore for Asian Games silver medal winning Odia sprinter Dutee Chand.

" CM @Naveen_Odisha announced ₹1.5 crore cash award for Dutee Chand on winning silver medal in 100m sprint at #AsianGames2018. Dutee’s achievement is an immensely proud moment for #Odisha, 20 years after the stellar show from Rachita Panda Mistri in 1998 Asian Games," CMO Odisha tweeted.

Patnaik also congratulated the athlete for her achievement.

He tweeted: "Congratulate #DuteeChand on sprinting to glory with a Silver in 100m sprint at #AsianGames2018. You have made the nation proud and #Odisha could not have been prouder! Best wishes. #OdishaForIndia."

Indian sprinter Dutee Chand on Sunday clinched the silver medal in the women's 100 metre final event of the ongoing Asian Games here.

She clocked 11.32 seconds.

The gold medal was won by Odiong Edidiong of Bahrain.

Wei Yongli of China won the bronze medal.
