New Delhi, Jan 10 (IBNS): The Indian Olympic Association (IOA), on Tuesday, revoked its decision to appoint 'scam-tainted' Suresh Kalmadi and Abhay Singh Chautala as its Life Presidents, according to media reports.

The IOA is expected to inform the Central government of its decision on Wednesday, media reported.

The Union Sports Ministry issued a show cause notice to IOA on Dec 28 after the General Body meeting of IOA passed a resolution on Dec 27 to appoint Suresh Kalmadi and Abhay Chautala, both of whom have been charge-sheeted, as its Life Presidents.

IOA  was required to reply to the show cause notice by 5pm of Dec 28.  In their response, IOA sought extension up to 1Jan 15, 2017 for replying to the show cause notice, stating that President, IOA was out of the country and they needed to consult him, media reported.

IOA president N Ramachandran convened a meeting of presidents, vice-presidents and joint secretaries of national sports federations in New Delhi on Monday and a decision to retrieve the body out of the current mess with the accompanied government ire and suspension was taken, reported ESPN.
