New Delhi, Apr 25 (IBNS): Gautam Gambhir on Wednesday stepped down as the skipper of Delhi Daredevils side in the middle of the ongoing Indian Premier League.

Shreyas Iyer has been named the skipper of the side for the remaining of the tournament.

Delhi has just won one match so far in the tournament.

The team has played six matches.

With just 2 points, Delhi is currently positioned at the bottom of the table.

Gambhir shifted to Delhi side this season after captaining Kolkata Knight Riders for the past few years.

He was one of the most successful skippers in the history of the tournament as under his guidance KKR won the IPL twice.

Gautam's performance as a batsman in the tournament so far has been poor.

In six matches, he has just scored 85 runs.

Gambhir had earlier led Delhi in 2010 edition of the tournament.

Delhi has not won the IPL title in its history so far.
