Bengaluru/IBNS: Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has returned safely to India after being stranded in Dubai amid escalating conflict in the Middle East.

Sindhu had spent several tense days in the UAE after hostilities intensified in the region. Confirming her safe return, she shared a message on X expressing gratitude to authorities who facilitated her journey back home.

“Back home in Bangalore and safe. The last few days have been intense and uncertain, but I’m truly grateful to be back to my house,” she wrote.

“A heartfelt thank you to the incredible ground teams, Dubai authorities, airport staff, immigration, and every single person who stepped up and took such good care of us during a very difficult time. The empathy and professionalism meant more than words can say. For now, it’s time to rest, reset, and figure out the next steps.”

Rising Regional Tensions

The development comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions after the United States and Israel jointly launched strikes on Iran over the weekend.

Iran retaliated with a barrage of missiles and armed drones targeting Tel Aviv, US military bases across the region, and key energy infrastructure.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed on the first day of the conflict — a move that has plunged the country into political uncertainty and raised fears of a wider regional war.

US and Israeli officials described the strikes as part of a broader campaign aimed at dismantling Iran’s ruling establishment and weakening its military and nuclear command structure.

Khamenei, who succeeded Ruhollah Khomeini after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, had served as Iran’s most powerful political and religious authority for more than three decades.

His reported killing marks a dramatic escalation in hostilities, deepening instability across the Middle East and heightening concerns of a prolonged regional conflict.
