Ali departs post hundred, England pile up 450 runs
The Indian fielders have dropped as many as seven catches, allowing the English batsmen to get away with their mistakes.
Ever since the first session on Wednesday, it has been a batting masterclass from Joe Root (124) and Moeen Ali (117).
Ali, who was unbeaten on an overnight score of 99 runs, completed his century in the first over of the second day's play.
He was later bowled by Mohammad Shami as the southpaw misjudged the length of the delivery allowing it to go free, which castled his stumps.
The Root-Ali partnership added 179 runs for the fourth wicket, which was followed by a 62-run partnership between Ali and Ben Stokes.
Stokes, who was also involved in 99 partnership with wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow (46), is unbeaten on 84 runs.
Chris Woakes (4) will resume batting with Stokes when play starts post lunch.
The Indian bowlers gave away more than 130 runs in a 30-over session today, though they managed a couple of wickets.
While Mohammad Shami and ravichan Ashwin have picked up two wickets each, Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja have accounted for a scalp each.
