Vidya Balan turns 38

Mumbai, Jan 1 (IBNS) Bollywood actress Vidya Balan turned a year older on Friday.

The actress, who is known for her acting skills, turned 38.

Balan was discharged from hospital and she said she was 'grateful' to be back home to celebrate his birthday.

"Grateful to be back home in time to bring in my birthday ...Thank You for all your love,prayers and wishes. Happy 2016 to each of you!!" the actress tweeted.

The actress, who marked her presence at the very onset of her career in films with 'Parineeta', has bagged one National award, five Filmfare awards and five Screen awards.

She has been acclaimed for her acting skills as well as for her capacity to break stereotypes, which Vidya has proven time and again in films such as 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai', 'Paa', 'Ishqiya', 'No One Killed Jessica', 'The Dirty Picture', and 'Kahaani'.

She has also acted in comedy genres such as 'Heyy Babyy' (2007), Kismat Konnection (2008) and  'Ghanchakkar'.

Vidya is also a social activist and supports the cause of empowerment of women that eventually gets portrayed on-screen, where she has managed to carve a niche in a territory dominated by male actors.
