Cape Town: South African actress Charlbi Dean, who worked in Triangle of Sadness, has died, media reports said.

She was 32.

Dean's representatives said her death in hospital from a sudden unexpected illness was "devastating", reports BBC.

The actress will be best known for her roles in the Spud films (2010–2013) as well as the superhero drama series Black Lightning (2018) and the Palme d'Or winner Triangle of Sadness (2022).

However, it is her performance in Triangle of Sadness which earned appreciation of movie lovers.

Triangle of Sadness premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival in May 2022, where it received an eight-minute standing ovation and won the Palme d'Or.
