A dark mystery unfolds
The trailer follows Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), a struggling writer who is hired by Jeremy Crawford (Josh Hartnett) to complete the book series of his wife, bestselling author Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway), after Verity is left unable to work following an accident.
As Lowen moves into the Crawford family home, she begins exploring Verity's work and personal belongings.
The trailer promises a dark, seductive and unsettling mystery centred on secrets, obsession and a potentially dangerous triangle between Lowen, Verity and Jeremy.

One of the trailer's most shocking moments comes when Lowen appears to kiss Jeremy, only for the scene to take a disturbing turn involving Verity.
Anne, Dakota open up about kissing scene
Speaking to Extra TV, Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson opened up about the kissing scene that has sparked discussion following the trailer's release.
Both stars, along with Josh Hartnett, who was also present during the conversation, recalled that they had all kissed each other while filming.
"We all kissed each other... it's a miracle that nobody got sick," said Hathaway.
Dakota added, "Oh yeah... We all kissed each other."
When pressed further, the Materialists star said, "I would kiss Annie for the rest of my life. Everyday. If you need me, I'm there."
Verity is slated for a theatrical release on October 2, 2026.
