Mumbai/IBNS: Actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday.

Sharing the news with his fans on Instagram, Sood said "mood and spirit are super positive" even though he has tested positive for the virus.

Sood was made the brand ambassador of Punjab's COVID vaccination programme by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh earlier this month.

"Covid - positive. Mood and spirit - super positive. Hi every, this is to inform you that I have tested positive this morning for COVID-19. As a part of precautions, I have already quarantined myself and taking utmost care. But don't worry this gives me ample time to solve your problems. Remember I am always there for you all," Sood wrote in his post.

Sonu Sood was hailed a hero by the netizens as he reached out to thousands of migrant workers and people in acute financial distress during the COVID-19 lockdown last year.

He arranged accommodation, food, medicines for them and sent the stranded  migrants to their villages.

Post lockdown, he has been helping people who have been badly hit by the pandemic financially.
