James Bond
Pierce Brosnan is ready to reprise James Bond role in next 007 movie
Hollywood superstar Pierce Brosnan, who is known for portraying the iconic character of James Bond onscreen, has quipped about playing a senior 007 in the upcoming movie of the iconic franchise.
Brosnan said he is ready to step into the shoes of Bond once again, especially under the direction of Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.
“I don’t think anyone wants to see a craggy, 72-year-old Bond, but if Villeneuve had something up his sleeve I would look at it in a heartbeat,” Brosnan was quoted as saying by Variety.
“Why not? It’s great entertainment. It could be lots of laughs. Bald caps, prosthetics… who knows?" he said.
He said he is eagerly waiting to know who will play the character of James Bond in future.
“I have been listening to the drumbeat of expectation of who’s going to be the next James Bond,” Brosnan said. “There are many great candidates out there, and I’m sure they’re going to make it a spectacle of delight.”
Brosnan had played the popular character in GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough, and Die Another Day.
He will next be seen in Netflix movie The Thursday Murder Club. It is based on Richard Osman's novel.
Denis Villeneuve to direct next Bond movie
In June, the makers of the iconic spy movie named Denis Villeneuve as the new director of the film.
This will be the 26th James Bond film.
“I grew up watching James Bond films with my father,” the new director, who calls himself a Bond fan, was quoted as saying by The Hollywood Reporter.
“I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honour the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come," he said.
