Kolkata/IBNS: Eken Babu is back as Hoichoi Studios unveiled the trailer for The Eken: Kerala-e Kurukshetra on Wednesday, taking the satirical detective franchise and his trademark wit on a brand-new mystery to Kerala.

Directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, the film stars Anirban Chakrabarti as the detective Eken Babu, alongside Raima Sen, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, Somak Ghosh, Ritwick Chakraborty, Subrata Dutta, Ambarish Bhattacharya and Kamaleswar Mukherjee.

Actor Anirban Chakrabarti said, “Eken Babu has always been a character who finds himself in situations that are much bigger and more complicated than they initially seem. Kerala-e Kurukshetra takes that spirit a few steps further.

“There is mystery, there is danger, there are plenty of questions and of course, Eken Babu’s very own way of looking at everything. I think audiences are going to have a lot of fun trying to figure this one out along with him.”

The event featured interactive sessions with the cast and crew.

During the launch, lead actor Anirban Chakrabarti introduced a group of young fans who were intrigued by the trailer of the film. The young guests joined the team on stage to officially unveil the trailer.

“What makes this film exciting is the world in which the mystery unfolds. There are secrets, unexpected turns and characters who all seem to have something to hide.

“Working with the Eken team was tremendous fun, and I think the trailer gives only a glimpse of what audiences can expect,” said actress Raima Sen.

Actor Ritwick Chakraborty added, “The Eken stories have always managed to make a mystery entertaining without losing their sense of humour. This film takes that combination into a new space.

“The scale is bigger; the mystery is intriguing and there is plenty for the audience to decode. I’m looking forward to seeing how people respond to it.”

The Eken: Kerala-e Kurukshetra is scheduled to release regionally on October 15, and nationally on October 16.
