Los Angeles/IBNS: Hollywood actor Dakota Johnson and singer-songwriter Role Model have reportedly ended their relationship less than a year after they were first romantically linked, PEOPLE reported.

Role Model, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, and Johnson have reportedly been separated "a while ago", according to a source cited by PEOPLE. Neither has publicly commented on the reported split.

When did Dakota Johnson and Role Model start dating?

Rumours about the pair began in December 2025, when Johnson and Pillsbury were spotted having dinner with friends in Los Angeles.

Their relationship became more visible in early 2026, with the pair spotted together on several occasions.

In April, they were photographed kissing and holding hands during an outing in Los Angeles.

The romance came months after Johnson's split from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, with whom she had been in an on-and-off relationship since 2017. The couple's split was reported in June 2025.

Dakota Johnson's career

Johnson, 36, is best known for starring as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades film trilogy, which turned her into an international star.

She has since appeared in films including The Peanut Butter Falcon, The Lost Daughter, Persuasion, Cha Cha Real Smooth, Madame Web, Materialists and Splitsville.

Her upcoming projects include Verity, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel, in which she stars alongside Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett.

She is also set to make her feature directorial debut with A Tree Is Blue, starring Jessica Alba and Charli xcx.

Who is Role Model?

Role Model is the stage name of Tucker Pillsbury, a 29-year-old American singer-songwriter who rose to prominence through his introspective pop music.

He gained a wider following with songs including "Sally, When the Wine Runs Out" and "blind", while his earlier albums Rx and Kansas Anymore helped establish his music career.

Pillsbury released his latest album, The Hourglass, in August 2026. Johnson also contributed a spoken-word cameo to his track "Love I You", recorded during a studio visit. Pillsbury later described her contribution as a spontaneous collaboration.

Relationship also became a creative collaboration

While their romance remained largely private, Johnson and Pillsbury eventually crossed into each other's professional worlds.

Johnson's spoken-word appearance on "Love I You" marked one of the most public acknowledgements of their relationship. Pillsbury had initially been hesitant about mixing his personal and professional lives but later praised Johnson's contribution to the song.

The reported breakup comes only weeks after the release of the song and less than a year after the pair were first linked romantically.
