Angelina Jolie congratulates Sahraa Karimi for her appointment as Director General of Afghan Film

Los Angeles, May 20 (IBNS): Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie on Sunday congratulated Afghanistan filmmaker Sahraa Karimi for her appointment as the  Director General of Afghan Film.

Afghan Film is the south Asian nation's state-run film production company that was established in 1968.

Filmmaker and director, Karimi, is the first Afghan woman who was appointed to the post through a merit-based process in the Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission, reported Tolo News.

Jolie described her appointment as 'historic'.

“I was moved to hear of your recent historic appointment as the Director General of the Afghan Film production company. I wanted to write to congratulate you on your remarkable achievement. Afghanistan is very close to my heart and I can imagine how much your appointment means to your fellow countrywomen in particular,”  Jolie wrote in her letter to Karimi.
