WB: TMC leader suspended for firing on civilians in Malda
Kolkata, Dec 28 (IBNS): The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Monday suspended its leader Pabitra Roy, who was held on Sunday for firing from inside his car on a mob at English Bazar area in West Bengal's Malda district.
The car of TMC ruled English Bazar Panchayat Samiti's president Pabitra Roy hit a cyclist on Sunday afternoon and tried to escape from the spot.
When local people caught the car and were trying to vandalize it, Pabitra Roy fired indiscriminately from inside the car on the civilians which killed two local youths- Asim Mondal (19) and Rahul Paswan (17).
Police on Sunday night arrested him and seized his vehicle. He was produced in Malda CJM court on Monday and sent to police custody for 3 days.
TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien told IBNS, "Pabitra Roy has been suspended from the party. Police have already arrested him. Trinamool Congress shows zero tolerance on such issues."
Meanwhile, two men were killed and few others were injured on Monday in an explosion which occurred in a warehouse of a local TMC leader at Sujapur in Malda district, reports said.
Police seized huge raw materials used for making country bombs. But the accused godown-owner is still absconding.
