Thiruvantapuram, Jan 23 (IBNS) Thrissur vigilance court has ordered the state vigilance department to conduct an inquiry against Excise Minister K Babu in the bar bribe case, reports said.

The court has set a time frame of February 22 for the report to be submitted.

The court, which has made sharp comments on the vigilance department over the delay in submitting the quick verification report, has also asked if the accused has been questioned and whether his house and bank records checked.

Vigilance department replied that it was done earlier and the report had been submitted at the Lokayukta court and the one-month time has been asked for to collect the reports.

But the court said, "If the officials had the honesty, commitment and willpower, the report could have been submitted within 10 days."
