Three drown in Ganga in UP, 1 body recovered

Hardoi, Jun 12 (UNI) Body of a youth, who drowned while bathing in river Ganga in this Uttar Pradesh district on Wednesday, along with his friends, was recovered, while search was on for the other two.

According to police, Shivam, Divyansh and Mithun, all residents of Behthar village in Arwal area, went to the Ganga river for bathing, on the occasion of Ganga Dusshehra at Chiyasar ghat, five km away from their home, without informing their parents.

Police said the trio reached the deep end of the river while bathing and one of them started drowning. In a bid to save him, all three drowned in the swift currents.

People present on the banks of the river tried to save them, but all their efforts went in vain, they added.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and with the help of local divers, recovered the body of Shivam.
