Tape on SpiceJet aircraft window sparks passenger uproar! 'What guarantee will you take?' Staff faces tough questions
A tape placed on the window of a SpiceJet aircraft triggered a heated exchange between passengers and an airline staff member after some travellers questioned their safety, in an incident that has gone viral on social media.
The viral video shows a woman easily removing a piece of tape placed on the aircraft window before questioning the staff member, asking, "What is this?"
The sight of the tape raised concerns among passengers, who questioned how the aircraft could be considered safe for travel.
Passengers question aircraft safety
The airline staff member, who did not object to being filmed, attempted to assure the passengers that the aircraft was safe to fly.
However, the exchange turned heated when some passengers expressed dissatisfaction with his response.
The situation escalated further after the staff member reportedly said, "Anyone who is not comfortable could choose not to travel."
One passenger hit back, saying, "All of us who are here to fly have a problem."
When the staff member assured them of a safe journey, another passenger questioned him, asking, "What guarantee are you willing to take?"
The same passenger also referred to the deadly Air India plane crash, saying, "It's not even two years since such a big incident has happened and you are upto this!"
Social media users divided
The incident has sparked a debate online, with users expressing differing views on the presence of tape on the aircraft window and the airline staff's response.
While some defended the airline, arguing that the tape was not necessarily an indication of a safety issue, others suggested that passengers should consider flying with other carriers if they were uncomfortable.
One user, Tirtharaj, wrote, "Removing aircraft safety tape without proper authorization is a serious matter and may constitute interference with aviation safety procedures. Aircraft are not places for careless experiments or uninformed actions. People with zero knowledge of aviation must not tamper with aircraft equipment or safety markings.
"Strict action must be taken against those responsible. Aviation safety is not a joke, and ignorance is no excuse for compromising it."
Another user offered a different perspective, writing, "The problem is ...he is unable to communicate properly that it is absolutely safe to fly ....the fuselage is not damage ...it's only the interior that is being temporary fixed by tape ...that's absolutely okay ...but ..yes education is important."
